This Lab is part of the Department of Business Adminsitration, University of Piraeus.
The National Greek healthcare system is faced with the growing demand of health care services while the availability of resources is decreasing. At decision making level is therefore a priority to have the tools, the knowledge and a consolidated methodological approach to support an efficient allocation of resources.
The mission of the Health Technology Assessment and Health Analytics lab of University of Piraeus is to contribute to the affordability of the Greek healthcare system.
We do that by improving, performing and implementing studies that evaluate the clinical, economic and societal consequences of implementing (new) health interventions, in other worlds, by implementing Health Technology Assessment (HTA) strategies. HTA provides an answer to the misalignment between health needs and the resources needed to satisfy them. HTA is a supporting decision-making tool of health policy that can be applied at different national and local decision levels, from health care organizations to clinical practice.
To achieve this overall goal we work together with many different clinical departments, national and international research groups and other stakeholders such as healthcare policymakers.
Our research focuses on the following themes:
• Applied cost-effectiveness studies
• Statistical methods of cost-effectiveness studies
• Measurement of health outcomes
In addition, we put a lot of effort into training researchers, healthcare providers and other decision makers in the use of cost-effectiveness studies.
